According to Articles R4412-19 and R4321-5 of the Labor Code, employers are required to cover the cost of cleaning the work clothes required of their employees.

Failure to comply with these obligations is punishable by a fine of €1,500 per offense (Article 131-13 of the Criminal Code). This fine may be multiplied by the number of employees concerned.
